In harmony with history and modernity, we try to incorporate sustainability into our work processes every day at the Heide Hotel. The aim is to combine the spirit of contemporaneity with the values of the past.
Consistent waste reduction
The careful selection and use of products in our hotel is always based on the maxim of avoiding waste and ensuring proper waste separation.
- We regularly and systematically collect and monitor data on waste generation and copy paper consumption
- Increased use of paperless processes throughout the hotel
- Preferential use of reusable systems from suppliers
- Avoidance of non-recyclable portion packaging
- Professional food waste disposal
Water utilization
We are aware that water is one of the most important resources and therefore the responsible management of water plays a prominent role in our efforts.
- We regularly and systematically record water consumption by type.
- The water comes from legal and sustainable sources that will not affect environmental flows in the future.
- We ensure that all water installations and systems (e.g. fittings, cooling) are regularly serviced and maintained
- Use of flow restrictors / aerators
- Use of sustainable cleaning chemicals (where possible) to minimize environmental impact
- 2-quantity cisterns
- Use of water-saving shower heads in all areas
Energy consumption and the energy transition
In the area of energy, we actively implement measures and develop concepts that include both our guests and our employees. Our main focus is on reducing the use of fossil fuels in order to make our contribution to environmental protection.
- We purchase electricity from renewable sources to improve our carbon footprint – 100% green electricity
- We regularly and systematically record and monitor energy consumption (e.g. electricity, heating oil, natural gas)
- Use of modern LED technology
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of our technical equipment and systems
- Modern heating and cooling systems
- Energy check with a consultant/expert (determination of energy requirements and consumption, description and analysis of weak points, suggestions for savings measures)
- Own energy officer in the company
Social affairs

- Our hotel actively supports (local) initiatives and projects in the interests of sustainable development and the promotion of the local community and cultural heritage.
- We promote decent work and are guided by fair wages and collective agreements
- Hotel employees regularly take part in training/continuing education on their tasks and responsibilities
- A system with offers for occupational health management has been established in the hotel
- We are committed to the Diversity Charter
- The Heide Hotel has a policy against commercial, sexual or other forms of exploitation and harassment.

Culinary delights
We cook with fresh ingredients and pay attention to a balanced and varied culinary offering. We also incorporate varied, plant-based dishes.
